Frequently asked questions

Straight answers from specialists.

The practical details clients, architects and designers most often ask us to explain — including the limits of what these products can do.

How much do plantation shutters cost?

Cost depends on the window area, material, style, frame complexity and finish. Bay windows, shaped windows and tracked systems take more work than a simple square opening. We provide an itemised proposal after survey rather than quoting from a rate card.

Are internal steel doors suitable for period homes?

Usually yes. Slim profiles and a well-judged glazing-bar layout sit comfortably with Victorian and Edwardian joinery, and they let light travel between rooms. Suitability is confirmed at survey, where we check the opening, floor level and the structure above.

Are your steel doors fire rated?

Our standard slimline internal steel doors and screens are architectural products, not certified fire doors. If a fire rating is required for your project, tell us early so a suitable certified solution can be considered.

Do steel doors and partitions soundproof a room?

They reduce noise transfer compared with an open doorway, but they are not soundproof. Glass specification, perimeter sealing and threshold detail all affect the result, and we describe the likely improvement in realistic terms.

How long does a project take?

Lead times depend on product, specification and current workload. We confirm a realistic programme in writing after survey and keep you informed from approval through to installation.

What does the guarantee cover?

Materials and workmanship for 10 years under normal domestic use, with the full terms set out in your project documentation and on our guarantee page.

Which areas do you cover?

We design, survey and install across South West London and Surrey, including Wimbledon, Wandsworth, Battersea, Earlsfield, Southfields, Richmond, Kingston upon Thames, Cobham and Virginia Water.

Do you work with architects and interior designers?

Yes. We provide drawings and specifications for coordination with contractors and other trades, and we will say plainly when an opening or requirement is not suited to a product.
